Work experience
Energy Systems Catapult - Senior Modelling Analyst (2024-2026)
- Energy modelling consultant and developer
- Local Area Energy Planning (LAEP) model development, validation and debugging in Python
- Developed new data pipelines and processing methods to incorporate clients’ custom data into models
- Investigating use of open-source models (e.g. PyPSA) to broaden use cases for existing energy models
- Built optimiser results dashboard in Python, aiding model scenario refinement, and reducing model analysis time from 2 days to 1 hour per modelled scenario
- Technical Lead for energy modelling web applications
- Led team of designers, full-stack developers, and energy modellers on creation of two new web apps
- Architected AWS infrastructure (including Lambdas, API Gateway, S3 storage), and SQL databases
- Mentored colleagues with energy modelling Python code, providing Git reviews and development oversight
- Secured additional funding to implement a login system, vastly improving tool UX
- AWS Work Package Lead and Modelling team mentor
- Supported in AWS infrastructure decisions, and liaised between the Modelling and Digital teams during a major re-development of a regional energy modelling tool
- The increased efficiency and automation provided by the AWS infrastructure is a strong contributing factor to reducing the cost of regional energy modelling projects by >90%
Energy Systems Catapult - Modelling Analyst (2022-2024)
- Energy model data researcher and developer - Researched and processed techno-economic datasets included in the LAEP Guidance publication, used as input data by energy modelling organisations across the UK
- Smart Local Energy Systems (SLES / Microgrid) modelling - Modelled the impact of 13 proposed Microgrid projects on consumer bills and carbon emission impacts
- Technical Lead for Local Area Energy Plan modelling - Led a team of four modelers on a LAEP project, handling model QA, debugging, stakeholder engagement and workshops
Community Windpower - Technical Assistant (2020-2022)
- Wind farm, Solar PV and battery storage site developer - Modelled energy yields and financial returns using combination of dedicated design software and Python tools I developed
- Operational wind farm data analysis - Developed Python code for analysis of data from operational wind farms, helping to reclaim thousands in turbine availability warranty claims
Jaguar Land Rover - Graduate Engineer (2018-2020)
- Worked across multiple teams, including Human Factors (ergonomics), Sustainability and User Experience research teams, to develop Jaguar i-Pace and Land Rover Defender products and future concepts
